ah it was a good night. tim and i biked out to an open air jazz concert in the middle of a rice field. i thought it was about 6km. in fact, after biking about 20km, it ended up being the opposite direction, in the opposite side of where i thought it was. so we had an amazing bike ride in the mountains, straining up hills and then whizzing down steep, steep declines seeing the cityscape in the distance.

best of all, after the jazz (the show was good, but a bit anal in its' logistics, but then this IS japan) we went to karaoke. tim and i biked back to matsusaka and everyone else drove to the train station to drop some people off, and they met a spanish guy there who missed his train. so they invited him out ...

OH, he's so beautiful.

i fell in love with him. we spoke about the spanish civil war, the spanish anarchists, mujeres libres... ahhh, so much. and, best of all, he's going to school and studying sculpting. i had hoped that i could invite him to my house to spend the night (seeing as he was stranded anyway) but it ended up that a girl's family already offered being her father had lived in valencia (where he was from).

damn.

and i think he's queer. it was so nice to have someone look at me with authentic eyes, with a look that genuinely wanted to more about me, a look that was happy in that moment, even surrounded by the ridiculous of the karaoke box (which actually made it more surreal and david lynch-like).

and then he got in a minivan and left.

and tim and i biked home.

but i stopped at the mini mart first.
